A Closer Look at the 2015 Volkswagen Electric Vehicle eGolf

eGolf is the latest Volkswagen electric vehicle to join the market.

It is a neighbourhood scooter designed using the electric vehicle concept that the Nissan LEAF uniquely defined. The only difference is that the eGolf is engineered by German techs who made an analysis of Nissan’s steep learning curve.

In the aspects of range, curb weights, performance, powertrain layout, amenities, amenities, consumer leasing, and price, a comparison between eGolf SEL and the advanced Nissan LEAF SL was done.

VW possesses more affordable trim levels, but was able to enter the market with the high-performing eGolf SEL Premium.

eGolf is a 4-door hatchback vehicle with air-cooled Panasonic-VW Lithium-Ion batteries that are mounted along the keel. It has an electric motor located between its front wheels, pulling a city-highway average of about 83 miles for every full charge priced at around $3.

With the prices of gasoline down, it’s about a half of the cost for the gas-powered 4-door Volkswagen TSI that covers the same distance. The batteries of eGolf are restorable by up to 80% charge in as fast as half an hour.

It only needs to hook to a fast-charging system like those installations found in a number of VW dealerships in the ten known ZEV states, like California, Maine, Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, Massachusetts, New York, Vermont, Oregon, District of Columbia, and Rhode Island.

With the typical household charging outlet in the garage, the charging process is done overnight.

The Bosch fast-charging system meant for VW use, on the other hand, is a mere $500, yet can dramatically cut recharging times at home.

Compared with Nissan Leaf, eGolf boasts of equal performance coupled with a lower operational cost. It also has a silent interior that can rival a number of gas-powered luxury automobiles.

In the case of driving dynamics and design, eGolf stands high above the rest. It offers a unique driving experience comparable to the LEAF, or even the unrefined Fiat 500e.

Unlike the LEAF, eGolf doesn’t try to differ itself from other compact cars, but it looks much like a Bauhaus German car. e-Golf boasts of a dual-zone automatic climate control, a touchscreen navigation system, and a leather steering wheel.

eGolf proved to be a capable package, much more than LEAF.

In fact, the latter cannot deliver steering and handling capabilities in the same manner as eGolf.

Only Ford and General Motors cars can match or even perform past VW when it comes to these capabilities; not one Asian car maker comes close.

A genuine German-made hatchback with a number of precise features, eGolf delivers the best driving abilities in the field. It can create enough torque that will allow it to navigate with great ease through traffic.

Finally, it cannot be denied that the VW car has a desirable suspension that integrates a smooth, easy drive with skilled handling. It can also be product of its compact body structure, and a cosy and spacious interior made of materials that conform to the Bauhaus style.

eGolf, without a doubt, is one of the best options available in the EV market.
